Fall shows will feature nine homosexuals.

Out of 679 lead or supporting roles on network television this fall, only nine will be openly homosexual — one less than last year. The numbers are from an annual report by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), which decried the tally.

The group did not return calls for comment, but has said the networks have “a long way to go” before they accurately reflect the “diversity of society.”
