They split nearly 500 years ago but now there’s talk of the Anglican and Catholic churches re-uniting under one leader – the Pope.That’s the dream proposed by an Australian Catholic Archbishop who’s the co-chairman of an international body set up to investigate ways to bring the two churches closer together.

Archbishop John Bathersby is under no illusion that there are vast differences between the Anglican and Catholic churches, but he says they’ve got more in common than most people think, and that it’s time to consider repairing the split that occurred during the Reformation.

Archbishop Bathersby has been speaking to Louise Willis.
